ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been named to the 2014 Supply & Demand Chain Executive list of 100 Great Supply Chain Projects. ALOM was honored for its work in supporting the Ford Recycle for Charity Program whose recycling net proceeds went to charity.
“ALOM is proud to have partnered with Ford as an innovative leader in achieving environmental benefits while aiding in the support of important charitable organizations. Achieving sustainability across the supply chain is one of the most crucial priorities of our time,” said ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain.
The Ford Recycle for Charity program offers MyFord Touch® and MyLincoln™ Touch entertainment and navigation system customers the opportunity to recycle replaced SD memory cards and have the proceeds donated to charity when they receive performance and content upgrades. After being returned, all data is erased from the SD card by ALOM. The SD card is then sold for re-use with net proceeds donated to the Ford supported charity of the customer’s choice. ALOM handles all parts of the supply chain, including the online returns site, receipt of return, data handling and reselling of the media, as well as financial aspects such as direction of proceeds.
“It was a great experience developing this program in collaboration with Ford’s staff,” adds Lisa Dolan, ALOM Vice President of Supply Chain. “Everyone was excited to develop a sustainable program that benefits important causes. Now in its second year, the program continues to set the standard for creative solutions and employee engagement.”
“The world of supply chain is becoming more complex by the day. To keep up with the volatility and the demand-driven needs of customers, supply chain solution providers, consultants and other organizations must be flexible but also visionary enough to prepare for the future,” said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine, which published the list.
“The projects featured can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations,” he added.
