ALOM Named a Top Workplace for 4th year by Bay Area News Group

June 26, 2017

ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been selected for the fourth consecutive year as one of The Bay Area News Group’s Top 100 Workplaces.  The award as a 2017 Top Workplace was based solely on employee feedback as gathered in a survey of approximately 6,000 workplaces conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement.

“This year ALOM celebrates its 20th anniversary. Achieving this significant milestone has required ALOM to emerge as industry leaders in technology application, process efficiency, and quality management. We have our employees and leadership team to thank for their passion and expertise in continually innovating and delivering impeccable global service levels to our clients and their customers,” said ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain. ALOM enables Fortune 100 companies and emerging leaders alike to compete and win with exceptional supply chain performance and product-to-market operations

“To be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day—the employees?” says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. “Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together.”

Since ALOM’s founding in 1997, Kain has cultivated a transparent and highly trained workplace.  Each year, all employees receive a one-page business plan on the direction of the company, as well as its mission, values and principles of doing business. ALOM conducts regular company meetings where all employees learn about the company’s performance, key achievements and challenges. These meetings also provide a forum for employee engagement and recognition.

ALOM trains its people in processes that ensure quality throughout its supply chain and promote the safety and development of each employee. As a company, it has earned internationally recognized process and quality management certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and TL 9000.  ALOM is FDA registered and Privacy Shield certified.

Additionally, ALOM offers over 100 training courses a year spanning business and technical skills, safety, health and wellness.

ALOM is deeply committed to principals of diversity and social responsibility, which resonate with its employees. “As a woman-owned business enterprise, ALOM respects our employees’ distinctive contributions and encourages a diversity of perspectives. We believe it makes us a more innovative and exciting environment in which to grow,” said ALOM Senior Human Resources Manager, Claire Mendonca.

ALOM encourages its employees to support local charitable organizations.  Volunteer initiatives include:

  • Fremont-based Abode Services and Sunrise Village Emergency Shelter
  • Silicon Valley Leadership Group
  • Tri-Cities League of Volunteers (LOV) toy drive.
  • HOPE Services, providing warehouse job training and employment to adults with developmental disabilities

By providing advanced supply chain solutions, ALOM and its employees support a number of client-driven charitable initiatives such as Ford Warriors in Pink, donating proceeds of “Warrior wear and gear” to fight breast cancer. In partnership with the McKesson Foundation, ALOM supports the Giving Comfort program that distributes comfort packs to cancer patients to soothe the discomfort caused by cancer treatment. Another customer, One World Play Project, donates nearly indestructible soccer balls to youth in disadvantaged third world communities.

WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 40 major publishing partners nationally.  Over the past year WorkplaceDynamics has surveyed more than two million workers in about 6,000 organizations.
