ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been named for the second consecutive year to the 2015 Supply & Demand Chain Executive list of 100 Great Supply Chain Projects. ALOM is being recognized for its role as the worldwide e-commerce fulfillment partner for their client, One World Play Project. This program brings the healing power of play to youth in disadvantaged communities around the world by donating and delivering one soccer ball for every one purchased.
With the support of corporate sponsor Chevrolet, ALOM has on behalf of One World Play Project delivered over one million of the innovative and nearly indestructible soccer balls to children in over 160 countries.
“ALOM is extraordinarily proud that our e-commerce fulfillment technology and logistics planning expertise have been able to help One World Play Project achieve the global scale they needed to reach more children in more countries than ever before,” said ALOM CEO Hannah Kain.
ALOM supply chain engineers and developers completely customized the One World Play Project inventory management, online ordering, and fulfillment processes to reduce delivery time and costs.
It also created a secondary system to route the donated soccer balls to the charitable organizations who reliably distribute them to children in need, often in hard to reach, remote locations.
“ALOM is a valued strategic partner on this project. Through their global network we have seamlessly expanded distribution while reducing time and shipping expense,” said Arnold Ambiel, One World Play Project Chief Operating Officer.
ALOM’s proprietary COMPASS™ client order management and reporting portal interacts with the e-commerce storefront technology—including fulfillment centers in Europe—to automatically route orders all over the world. The system provides 100% order status visibility, helping to reduce back orders and create efficiencies.
“Our goal with this year’s list is to put the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that are delivering bottom-line value to small, medium, and large enterprises. These projects serve as a road-map for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations,” said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine, which published the list.
