ALOM, a global leader in sustainable supply chain management, has been selected to receive the Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award for 2016. This is the third consecutive year that ALOM has been honored with this award.
ALOM is being recognized for implementing an integrated online order and distribution management portal that fulfills and tracks high-volume shipments across the North America retail channel. The positive environmental impact of the ALOM solution results from transportation fuel savings and CO2 emission reduction. This is accomplished through highly optimized inventory, freight management and distribution system planning that virtually eliminates partial or back-order shipments, and thereby
reduces the number of shipments and miles driven.
“We continually push ourselves to reinvent the meaning of sustainability and process optimization in a changing marketplace. In this case we sought to leverage our technology experience by developing integrated order and distribution management tools to provide real-time visibility, and reduce the carbon footprint,” said Hannah Kain, ALOM President and CEO.
The Green Supply Chain Award, now in its ninth year, recognizes small, mid-size and large enterprise companies making sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy. The award also recognizes providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
“ALOM shows that the bottom line and corporate responsibility are not mutually exclusive,” says Ronnie Garrett, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive, who noted that they had received almost 200 applications for the award. “Awardees, such as ALOM, have recognized the need for supply chain sustainability, and made this part of their innovative solution strategy, something that’s not always easy to do.”
