The Growing Indianapolis Supply Chain WOW Factor

This past month ALOM CEO Hannah Kain addressed a large group of corporate supplier diversity professionals and women-owned business leaders at a pre-conference welcome reception being hosted by ALOM at its Indianapolis production and fulfillment center. During her comments she proudly remarked, “One of the best business decisions I have made was selecting Indianapolis as the location for our Midwest regional expansion.”

Recent accomplishments back up this assessment. We are experiencing consistent growth in demand for supply chain program support services at our Indianapolis location.

ALOM put down stakes in Indianapolis in 2017 and it didn’t take long to outgrow our initial facility. By 2019, we had built out and moved into a larger 160,000 sq. ft. space, but the demand for our services continued to grow.

So, just a month ago in July 2024, ALOM opened a new 70,000 sq. ft. storage and fulfillment facility located at 2800 Airwest Blvd. We now operate two facilities in Indianapolis totaling 230,000 sq. ft. This recent expansion adds 44% capacity growth which allows us to stock greater amounts of inventory and produce and fulfill a higher volume of orders.

Adding and exclamation point to ALOM’s Indianapolis expansion, we recently earned accreditations for this location from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). These Drug Distributor and OTC Medical Device Distributor accreditations further demonstrate our commitment to achieve the highest quality and performance standards in the medical supply chain industry.

The reception noted earlier also included a behind the scenes Indianapolis facility tour and highlights ALOM’s commitment to support supplier diversity. As a certified women-owned business, ALOM is a proud member of the national Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the regional Great Lakes Women’s Business Council which connects WBE businesses with corporate members across the Great Lakes region.

ALOM’s membership and support of Great Lakes WBC allowed us the opportunity to host the welcome reception on the evening prior to their annual WE Succeed Indiana event held at Corteva Agriscience the following day.

The exclusive VIP ALOM facility tour provided guests with a rare glimpse into how a world-class supply chain company operates. Guests observed and learned about:

  • Software flashing demos
  • Medical test kit production, quality management, and serialization
  • DNA test kit assembly and fulfillment
  • Sustainability and environmental best practices
  • Warehouse and inventory management
  • Special assembly and digital print center operations

“The reception at ALOM was more than just an evening gathering; it was a celebration of community, innovation, and the power of coming together to support and empower women in business,” says Shelly Hyland, Director of Marketing & Engagement for Great Lakes Women’s Business Council. “The reception provided an excellent platform for meaningful exchanges and the formation of valuable partnerships.”

ALOM has always been a strong advocate for supplier diversity and actively supports a vibrant diverse supplier program of its own. In 2023, we achieved a 26.7% diverse supplier spend. During the reception, our supply base manager, Paul Korbein, engaged with WBE attendees to discuss potential supplier partnerships and explore how their products and services could benefit ALOM customer programs.

As we continue to grow and innovate, ALOM remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of supply chain operational excellence.
