ALOM Hosts National Manufacturing Day Open House in Fremont Global Headquarters
ALOM opened its doors today to students, city officials, industry professionals, and community members to celebrate Manufacturing Day, a nationwide movement to raise public awareness of the contributions by manufacturers to their communities and promote career opportunities in manufacturing to the next generation of skilled workers. As host to one of the over 2,336 events across the U.S. and Canada, ALOM conducted a series of facility tours and Q&A sessions at its global headquarters here.
Manufacturing Day was created in 2012 as an annual event on the first Friday of every October by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to showcase the industries’ state-of-the-art innovation and advanced technology. Just as importantly, Manufacturing Day is a highly visible opportunity for industry leaders to proactively address a skilled labor gap that exists in the manufacturing and supply chain industry by welcoming students and young professionals onto the shop floor and educating them about the innovative and varied work that modern manufacturing offers.
“Manufacturing and supply chain dynamics present exciting career opportunities. At ALOM’s headquarters, our visitors could see firsthand how modern technology drives the global supply chain,” said ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain, who is a Board Member of NAM, one of the four co-producer institutions of Manufacturing Day.
Todd Burpell, COO of the National Association of Manufacturers, headquartered in Washington, D.C. attended the ALOM Manufacturing Day event to meet attendees and promote the benefits of a strong and growing manufacturing-based economy with industry and civic leaders.
ALOM educated visitors on the future of manufacturing specific to supply chain management in areas of account management, supplier management, technology development, and global supply chain operations.
“We showed visitors how supply chain strategies can transform a corporation’s entire operations by outsourcing manufacturing and related capabilities such as product assembly, logistics and fulfillment. This frees a company to become more innovative and efficient,” Kain added.
