Account management experts enable client success with creative problem solving and team leadership

ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, is proud to announce that Holly Tran, Director of Account Management, and Taylor Houser, Account Manager, are each being honored with the Women in Supply Chain Award by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The Award recognizes female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship, and examples set a foundation for industry achievement and innovation across all levels of the supply chain.

“This year’s awards are especially exciting for ALOM because Holly and Taylor embody the expertise and creativity needed to raise industry service levels during a time of increased challenges and disruption,” said Fiona Lowbridge, ALOM Vice President of Client Success. “These talented women are on the front lines every day, planning and making decisions in real-time that ensure optimal supply chain performance for our client programs. They are an inspiration within our company and to the supply chain community as a whole.”

Tran joined ALOM in 2009 as a seasoned industry expert with a passion for building and leading a global team committed to quality and service level excellence. Houser embarked on her professional career at ALOM in 2018 and quickly acquired an aptitude and enthusiasm for understanding and solving supply chain complexities. Today, Taylor manages several of ALOM’s largest and most complex client programs.

“Holly and Taylor are proof positive that combining the best talent with access to actionable data results in strong, resilient supply chains,” Lowbridge added. “These two professionals cultivate a rewarding and inclusive workplace culture that promotes career growth and professional development for all employees. They exemplify a dedication to teamwork, performance excellence, and creativity that is essential for success in today’s supply chain.”

Tran, who is based in ALOM’s Fremont, CA, global headquarters, has relentlessly tackled the extraordinary challenges that ALOM’s clients have faced in the last two and a half years. The effects of a global pandemic on trade flows, shortages in materials, freight disruption, staffing levels, and inadequate infrastructure are just some of the factors ALOM supply chain account teams overcame – achieving a 99.9% on-time shipping record over this time period.

In the early days of the pandemic, Tran helped develop a business intelligence-powered supply chain monitoring system that provided instant visibility to key performance areas. Over the past 18 months, she has enabled ALOM’s global team to mitigate cost and inventory risks with pro-active strategies such as adding and near-sourcing suppliers and adjusting order quantities, inventory and buffer stock levels.

As the global Account Management team leader, she implemented a mentorship training program resulting in faster, more successful issue resolution. As a result, client program support capacity increased 60 percent in 2021.

Houser, who is based in ALOM’s Indianapolis production and fulfillment center, joined ALOM after college. In just four years she has amassed a deep level of industry expertise that has positively impacted the growth of significant supply chain programs. To serve top B2B and B2C clients and implement sophisticated demand planning strategies, she has developed an advanced proficiency in data-driven order management, regulatory compliance, procurement, and many other critical industry requirements. At the same time, she has trained and supervised new ALOM account management staff and, with her infectious enthusiasm, has inspired them to reach higher levels of knowledge and achievement.

“Holly and Taylor are highly skilled supply chain professionals who excel in their profession. Their careers at ALOM demonstrate the excellence that results when a company encourages a diverse and inclusive workplace environment,” stated Hannah Kain, ALOM President and CEO.

ALOM’s commitment to developing a diverse workforce dedicated to service and quality excellence has been a priority since Kain founded the company in 1997. In 2018, she and the management team advanced a long-term strategy to invest in building an empowered and engaged workforce. The strategy, dubbed DOING (Development, Opportunity, INclusion, and Growth), ensures that ALOM’s ideology and core cultural values are delivered at every touch point of employee engagement.

In 2021, ALOM increased its workforce headcount by 70 percent with a six percent decrease in employee attrition. Women comprise 58 percent of ALOM’s national workforce and 50 percent of senior leadership roles. This exceeds the industry average of 41 percent women in the supply chain workforce and only 15 percent filling executive level roles, according to Gartner, Inc.

“When I launched this award three years ago, I was prepared for an uphill battle. I was envisioning a long road ahead in getting the supply chain industry educated enough as to why it was important to recognize women in the supply chain. But, this award, the winners and those who submitted nominations—both men and women—is a testament that supply chain organizations were already recognizing their female leaders; they just needed a better platform,” said Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics.
