ALOM Releases 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report

Supply chain leader’s ESG report details progress and metrics for sustainability initiatives, social programs, and governance standards

ALOM announces the publication of its annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report, presenting its continued commitment to sustainable business practices, an inclusive, thriving workforce, and corporate responsibility.

For over two decades, ALOM has been guided by the vision of its founder, Hannah Kain. “When I started ALOM more than 26 years ago, my vision was to create a supply chain company that does right by everyone – employees, customers, suppliers, and the planet,” she said. “Over the years, this vision has evolved to include ESG practice and process alignment among our supply chain partners and stakeholders.”

ALOM’s 2023 ESG report provides progress metrics and program information across key sustainability initiatives, social commitments, and governance standards. By closely monitoring key metrics in these three categories, ALOM can evaluate its performance and hold itself accountable for ongoing improvement.

Report Highlights:

Environmental Progress

ALOM has made significant progress on its NetZero Supply Chain Sustainability Initiative by investing in rigorous certifications, best-in-class partnerships, and innovative programs to monitor and report greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reduction.

Earlier this year, the company’s Road To Net Zero (RTNZ) program was named 2023 Top Supply Chain Projects Award by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. RTNZ is the greenhouse gas emission (GHG) measurement and reporting structure that ALOM established to verify progress in achieving net zero carbon neutrality by 2030.

These accomplishments highlight the company’s unwavering commitment to addressing global climate change:

-ALOM has fully transitioned to 100% renewable energy, eliminating the consumption of 1.5 million kWh of carbon-emitting power across North American supply chain production and fulfillment centers, reducing CO2 emissions by 649 tons. It is now an EPA Green Power Partner.

Social Progress

ALOM’s dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment has not wavered since its founding. By investing in leadership and skill development of its team members, the company strives for everyone to reach their full potential.

-Today, 56% of ALOM’s employees are female compared to an industry average of 41%, according to Gartner. More than 20 countries and 14 languages are represented in the company’s workforce.

-ALOM has achieved an average annual diversity spend of 28.7% over the past five years.

-In 2023, WBEC-Pacific spotlighted the ALOM supplier diversity program with its “Done Deals” award. This honor is based on the number of, and dollars spent with new WBE suppliers during the year.

Governance Progress

Data security and privacy have become an increasingly important focus of ALOM’s governance efforts. ALOM continues to improve a robust information security program, which is SOC2 and HIPAA compliant. Regular external audits, penetration tests, security awareness training, and disaster simulations help keep the company’s network secure and compliant.
