ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been selected by Supply & Demand Chain Executive as a recipient of an S&DCE 100 Project Award for 2016.
The S&DCE 100 recognizes the best transformative supply chain projects that showcase successful implementation of innovative methodologies by the world’s top supply chain service providers.
ALOM received this recognition for their design and implementation of a customized and automated retail order management solution for a retail test kit company. The company’s growth plan required expansion from an e-commerce only model to encompass the U.S. retail channel. The turnkey order management process ALOM developed provides rapid processing, real-time order visibility and direct connectivity, via ALOM, between their client and major U.S. retail stores. Since the nature of the product was a testing kit, traceability through the supply chain was of paramount importance.
“We are proud to expand availability of this groundbreaking product to retail shelves across the country,” said Hannah Kain, President and CEO of ALOM. “The program is a shining example of how technology and supply chain engineering can enable a company to successfully achieve strategic growth goals.
“Supply chain technology enables our customers to push barriers that previously were unheard of,” said Brandon Marugg, CTO of ALOM. “Staying at the forefront of technology allows ALOM to deliver innovative solutions, and our Silicon Valley technology team is excited to be recognized for its contribution.”
For this project ALOM customized product and case packaging for brand recognition and optimized inventory control. This included the development of a sophisticated high-volume inventory management and tracking system designed to integrate multiple retailer EDI feeds. Using direct connectivity, the ALOM-developed EDI and third party system integration solution feeds the client data for visibility and demand planning. The system is performing flawlessly—retail orders ship to distribution centers across the United States, averaging 48 hours from receipt to ship for high velocity and agile supply chain response.
“Our goal with 2016’s SDCE 100 is to shine the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value across the supply chain,” says Ronnie Garrett, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The selected projects can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations.”
